Last independent to close due to owners retiring

The town's last independent children's shoe shop is preparing to close.

Wilmslow residents Aundray Petho and his wife Julie have run Nought to Sixteen on Water Lane for the past fifteen years but have decided the time is right to retire.

Aundray explained "The business has been good to us over the years and we've had a lot of loyal support, but in recent years the footfall has dropped which helped us make the decision over retirement.

He added "It is a shame there won't be an independent children's shoe shop in Wilmslow for the time being but hopefully someone will come along and fill that space. Hopefully we have proved there is a need for specialist children's shoe fitting."

There is currently a closing down sale at Nought to Sixteen, which expects to remain open until the end of February or early March.

(Personally I am really sorry to see this great little shop closing down because I've bought my daughters' shoes from here since they both started walking and always found their customer service to be excellent.)

Thanks for the great service and fantastic shoes.

A sad loss for Wilmslow. Looks like Macclesfield's excellent Tom, Dick and Harriet may be the nearest independent children's shoe store when 0-16-16 closes. I believe the Knutsford independent is also now closed.
