A 13-year-old martial arts champion has been selected to represent England in the Commonwealth Championships next month.

Lincoln Strong, who attends Wilmslow High School, will fight for England Taekwondo team in the Commonwealth Championships in Edinburgh on November 15th and 16th.

He will be fighting in the minus 49kg class alongside three other boys from England in this sudden death competition.

Lincoln has been doing Taekwondo since he was five years old and trains three times a week at Team Ultimate Taekwondo in Doncaster, which is a two hour journey each way.

He has previously fought in Germany and Belgium and most recently won gold at the Yorkshire Championships. Lincoln was part of the Team GB Development Squad last year and hopes to be selected again at the trials in December.

Lincoln said "I'm so honoured to be picked for the Commonwealth Championships, but it proves that if you put in enough effort, you can actually get what you aim for. Though I'm not looking forward to dieting and training in a sauna suit when I'm back off holiday."
