New Brownie unit for Styal

BROWNIESTYAL

The new 3rd Wilmslow Brownies, based in Styal, celebrated their first half term as brownies by taking their promise this week. They pledged to 'be true to myself and develop my beliefs', 'to serve the Queen and my community' and to 'help other people'.

In keeping with the spirit of the promise, they made a lovely selection of cakes, put on a tea party for their families and even did the washing up afterwards.

Brown Owl Laura Seymour decided to open the new unit after hearing that there was a long waiting list of girls wanting to get involved in girlguiding in Wilmslow.

She said "Having been a Brownie and a Guide myself, I wanted to make sure that girls in Wilmslow have access to the fantastic opportunities guiding offers. The new brownies have all made good friendships and had lots of fun, and have lots of exciting ideas for what they'd like to do next."

Laura added "Brownies is open to all girls aged 7 to 10. They take part in an exciting array of activities including arts, crafts, games, cooking, outside trips and community activities. By working in small groups and helping to plan what they want to do they also develop teamwork and leadership skills. They have the opportunity to gain badges, which the girls are very excited about, by learning new skills."
