lacrosse

The lacrosse season started this weekend and Wilmslow's 1st's were keen to put a win on the board to start the season with a bang. Rochdale made the trip to Styal Road and the fixture promised to be fast, physical and end to end with both teams playing close battles in previous seasons.

Wilmslow started to edge away in the 1st quarter leading by 2 goals but Rochdale came back in the 2nd to finish half time hot on the heels. Wilmslow showed grit and determination with Jay Jones commanding from the back. Green, Mountney (C) and Perrin held the ball in attack and created intelligent plays to extend the lead. Jordan was strong in the centre and ensured Wilmslow retained the ball from each face. Rochdale saw a number of penalties in the final quarter which enabled Wilmslow to slow the ball down and see out the win. Wilmslow ensured they hung onto the victory and points with a great start to the campaign.
