12-year-old boy rescued from high embankment after falling from a swing

A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital after falling from a swing in Wilmslow.

Firefighters were called to reports of a child stuck down a steep embankment in wooded area near Chesham Road at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 3rd March.

Three fire engines attended - two from Wilmslow and one from Lymm as well as the rope rescue unit

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire and rescue said "The 12-year-old boy was brought to safety by crews from the rope rescue unit using a pulley system.

"He was then handed into the care of paramedics and taken to Wythenshawe Hospital with injuries believed to be serious."

Crews were at the scene for around two hours.
