The Colshaw Farm estate is to benefit from two new dog waste bins. Riverside Housing has sponsored the new bins following successful partnership work with Cheshire East Council’s Community Wardens and local residents.

Community Wardens in the area have been looking closely at how best to promote responsible dog ownership and enforcement.

The new bins will be placed near to Oakenclough nursery school and on Picton Drive playing field. Both will be regularly emptied by Cheshire East Council’s waste management officers.

Cheshire East Councillor, Brian Silvester, Cabinet member with responsibility for safer and stronger communities said: "Dog fouling in public places is something we all want to put a stop to. Cheshire East Council will try to place a dog waste bin in any area that needs one. Not cleaning up after your dog is irresponsible and unhygienic. Those who don’t respect the law will find themselves out of pocket."

Jeff Allen, Riverside Neighbourhood Manager added: "Serious disease can result from direct contact with dog faeces, not to mention the difficulties residents face removing dog mess from shoes and clothes. We are delighted to be involved in any initiative that promotes a positive message to our tenants and residents, I am sure that this can only be a good thing for our neighbourhoods."
