Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a car showroom in Wilmslow that left a salesman with serious injuries.

The robbery at Stratstones Aston Martin Dealership on Water Lane occurred at approximately 3.30pm on Thursday, 5th June.

A man, believed to be in his 20′s or 30′s, walked in to the showroom and spoke to a salesman stating that he would like to test the clutch of a Black BMW 320 D convertible parked outside the store, as he was interested in buying the vehicle for his partner.

The offender was then taken to the test the vehicle by the salesman who stood at the driver′s side of the car with the door open as he tested the clutch. Suddenly the offender drove off at speed causing the salesman to fall into the road, sustaining hip injuries. The car then continued along Water Lane, travelling in the direction of the airport tunnels.

The offender is described as a white man, in his 20′s or 30′s, wearing a light grey flat cap and a light coloured top. The car, a Black BMW 320 D convertible, had Stratstone.com silver display number plates on the front and rear and at the time of the incident the hood was dropped showing the red interior.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Water Lane on Thursday afternoon and saw anything suspicious is urged to contact DS Paul Basford at Wilmslow CID on 101 quoting incident number 519 of 5th June. Alternatively information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I am quite saddened at the shock at the lack of response to this article. I know we all may see the Aston Martin showroom as a vulgar manifestation of materialism but the victim here was a salesman earning a disproportionate portion of the margins that this organisation earns and he deserves out compassion and pity. Imagine the response if this was a fruit and veg stallholder. We must rid our town of the perpetrators of crimes such as this in every sector. It could be you next: the innocent victim of a bogus clutch tale or other such ruse. Get well soon salesman.

I would just like to say thank you Mark Lehmann for your comments about the injured salesman from Aston Martin. The salesman is my boyfriend and he has a broken hip. He has screws and plates holding his hip together and may, within the next few months have to undergo a hip replacement operation on top of everything else he has suffered! I am appalled this could happen to anybody on an average day at work! His and our lives have totally changed because of the actions of a low life! I cannot express my hurt and anger at this horrific act!!!!!

I am so very sorry to hear of your boyfriend's injuries Sharon. The shock must be terrible.
The report did not tell us the full details and I have wondered how seriously hurt he was and am saddened that it is as bad as it is.
No words can do justice to the low life who did this.
I do hope your boyfriend makes a good recovery and, in time, you can pick up the pieces and resume something like a normal life.
