Onwards and upwards

Convention pic 2014

"Incredibly impressive and eminently enjoyable..."

High praise indeed and the final congratulatory words proffered to the Cheshire A Cappella ladies as they gleefully walked away with first place in last week's Alderley Edge Music Festival Class 9. The adjudicator for the evening, Sarah Jefferson, awarded the chorus 90+ points which put them at the top of their class and into the "Outstanding" bracket of marks.

Two days later all 46 ladies set off to Nottingham to compete in the 2014 SAI UK Championships at The Royal Concert Hall. This annual event sees choruses from all around the UK and Holland compete for top marks in Musicality, Expression, Showmanship, Sound and so on.

Last year, Cheshire A Cappella was awarded the Special Achievement Award for the Most Improved Chorus so this last weekend, so the aim this year was to climb even further up the rankings and into the top ten. Despite tough competition from choruses who were competing for the umpteenth time, they smashed it scoring an additional 35 points and finishing in 7th place. This is a fantastic achievement at just five years old. Onwards and upwards!
