BP submit plans for redevelopment of petrol station

bp

As reported on wilmslow.co.uk earlier this month, BP are planning to re-develop their site on Alderley Road and open a M&S Simply Food store.

BP Oil (UK) Ltd have submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Council, seeking permission to redevelop the existing petrol filling station to include a new sales building, canopy, fuel pumps, storage tanks, minor boundary treatments and new car parking arrangements to provide ten allocated customer parking spaces, and one disabled space. The company are also applying to demolish and remove the car wash.

The gross floor space of the proposed sales building will increase from 80 sqm to 225 sqm and house a Marks and Spencer food store selling between 600 and 800 products - alongside non-food items such as household products, toiletries, newspapers and BBQ fuels.

The existing entrance from Broadway and exit onto Alderley Road will be retained and, to improve pedestrian safety, a pedestrian crossing will be installed.

The new petrol station and Simply Food store are expected to open sometime in November and create 20 new jobs.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 14/1693M.

The last date for submitting comments is May 8th and a decision is expected to be made by 29th May.
