Basketball: Wizards heading to the ‘Big Dance’

Mens Team - March 2014

Wilmslow Wizards put together a true team performance on Tuesday night to rally to a 44 – 37 win over 4th placed Elite, and take their spot in the Final of the Division 2 Play Offs at Warrington Ball Hall next week.

It was a tight game to start with both teams going toe-to-toe, making shots and keeping the scoreboard close. As the game moved in to the second quarter Wizards showed their true colours, putting some nice plays together, utilising their big man Alex Paredes in the post and working hard on both ends of the floor to open up a lead.

During the second half Wilmslow kept up the intensity by running the bench and there were strong contributions from the second string which showed the Wizards strength & depth and took the pressure off usual leading scorers Trezvant and Harry.

Elite's standout performer, Allerston, kept the score board respectable for the opposition, dropping a trio of late 3 pointers but it was a really a game where the efforts of the Wizards over a long season paid dividends.
