Trampolinists triumph at national finals

Following previous successes in the North West and North rounds of the National Schools Trampolining Championships, five Wilmslow High School teams travelled to Gateshead for the National Finals on Saturday.

Some remarkable performances by individuals and collectively as teams ensured that the long journey home was a happy one, with no less than three teams crowned National Champions. The Under 13 Novice (Jack Colledge, Ben Fazelnyia, Conor Smith, Ethan Ford), Under 15 Elite (Brendan Smith, Matt Graham, Ben Vaughan, Thomas Jefferis) and Under 19 Novice (Will Cusworth, Isaac Bass, Jordan Hough, Elliot Rowe) teams all won national titles in their respective categories.

The Under 15 Novice Team (Ed Storer, George Ridley, Sam Short, Nathan Sach) finished in second place overall, missing out on the title by just 0.3. In a close fought competition, the Under 19 Girls Novice team (Sam Margetson, Sara Howell, Elise Potter, Charlotte O'Brien) finished in fifth position.

There were also some fine individual performances, with Isaac Bass finishing second in the Under 19 Novice category, Jack Colledge finishing fourth in the Under 13 Novice category (missing out on a medal by 0.1) and Brendan Smith also finishing in fourth position in the Under 15 Elite category.

Coach, Hilary Pemberton was rightly proud of all those who competed and the dedication they have shown throughout the year to get to this level. Hilary was quick to thank her fellow coaches, Ruth Haward, Anna Cragg, Nathan Bunch and Richard Downs, and officials Deidre Smith, Freya Morten Smith, Maisie Allison and Vicki Cragg, who have made such an important contribution to another hugely successful year for trampolining at Wilmslow High School.
