Following the dissolution of the Artisan Market partnership the former business partners have met with Wilmslow Town Council to agree a solution, to enable the markets to continue without any interruptions.

Cllr Keith Purdom, Chairman of Wilmslow Town Council, said "There will be complete continuity, all the dates in the diary will be honoured and I don't think anyone will notice any difference.

"We were concerned about what was going on and we are very pleased to have such a fast and sensible solution.

"The previous organisers really put us on the map with the Artisan Market so it is great there are no hiccups and we are going forward smoothly."

Denise Valente, director of Valente Market Company Ltd, will deliver the Wilmslow Artisan Market moving forward.

Denise commented "The original concept for the Wilmslow Artisan Market was to reinvigorate our town, bringing vitality and buzz back to the high street. Enticing residents to visit and use their town once more. The ongoing development of this event will ensure that I continue with my original aims and deliver an outstanding monthly event for Wilmslow.

"Wilmslow is the flagship of all markets, and I am very much looking forward to working closely with Wilmslow Town Council and the Wilmslow Business Group to develop the event ensuring it is the cornerstone to other town centre events like the Wilmslow Show, the Motor Show and the Music Festival.

"As ever, I have great plans for the forthcoming event on Easter Sunday, 20th April – which will have a very special Easter theme and lots of exciting activities for all the family to enjoy. There will also be some novel (must see) additions to the day which will be revealed over the next few weeks.

"It is going to be a wonderful Sunday – bring your friends & family for a very special Easter weekend."

Wilmslow Town Council listened to what small business owners who trade at the market had to say and acted. They could have taken the easy option and put the market on hold for a few months until a solution was found but instead they moved quickly on the issue and we are very happy with the result.

If WTC really listened to what people want instead of commissioning worthless surveys this market would still be on a Saturday
WTC have done us no favours here

Couldn't agree more. It is great that the markets are to continue, but they MUST return to Saturdays. The Sunday ones have nothing like the atmosphere of the Saturday ones and will surely die off. My family have all noticed the difference and we cannot believe that local traders did not benefit from the much increased footfall. Our children and grandchildren used to come regularly on Saturday market days and really enjoyed the whole experience - they don't come now because there is nothing for them. They cannot be the only ones. PLEASE return to the Saturday markets.

The market does need to return to a Saturday but for the timebeing I am just relieved that there is still a monthly event in town that small craft and food businesses can trade at.

I do agree with everyone that Saturday was a much better day as we liked to mix the market shopping with our other shopping. I have to choose one or the other now.

I agree it should be moved back to Saturday. I keep intending to go, but somehow it just doesn't happen on Sunday. We went every month while it was on Saturday. We used it, among other things, to buy some of our food for the weekend, but Sunday is too late for that, we've done our planning and most of our cooking by then. While we were in town, we did also visit other shops, and I really can't imagine that the local traders were so much worse off. But like Angela above, I'm glad it's continuing at all, and will try to make an effort to go next time... honest...

It is interesting to read that a lot of local people can't make it to the market on a Sunday. WTC commissioned a survey, but they failed to ask the traders, the visitors to the market, but most of all the residents of Wilmslow, who are the voters and whose views the council are supposed to represent.
The market needs to be moved back to a Saturday.

Judging by the number of cars on the roads around Wilmslow on a Sunday morning most of the population is off to religIous worship!! Or perhaps indoor retail worship. How can one say it was better on a Saturday then say you haven't been on a Sunday.
It seems that a number of stallholders don't want to work Sundays which gives the impression the market is quieter.

What about the people who work on Saturdays? We seem to miss everything and there are quite a lot of us!!
