Help spring clean Wilmslow

Organised by Wilmslow Town Council and Wilmslow Clean Team the Wilmslow Spring Clean will take place from Monday 31st March until Friday 5th April.

Last year the Spring Clean week gained momentum, following the inaugural event in 2012, with significant clean ups carried out along Altrincham Road adjacent to Lindow Common, at the beds within and adjacent to Sainsbury's Car Park, Cliff Road, Alderley Road and Chapel Lane.

At the first event more than 25 volunteers met at Lindow Common and 35 bags of litter were collected, leaving that area much tidier.

Cllr Ruth McNulty said "We have been heartened by the numbers of residents who have volunteered to help clean in previous years. None of us wants to see litter strewn around the town and we would like, politely but firmly, to point out that the tidiness of our town is a responsibility in which we should all share.

"The creation of the Wilmslow Clean Team, organised and run by volunteers who collectively decide their own litter pick priorities, has started very positively. We hope that Spring Clean 2014 will encourage more volunteers to come forward either just for the week or hopefully to work with Wilmslow Clean Team throughout the year."

Previous years have seen volunteers come forward from a wide variety of areas including the Fire Service, Wilmslow High School, the Guides, Brownies, Scouts and Cubs but also from individual residents keen to make a difference.
