Landmark building set to become offices

4-6 Bank Square, Wilmslow

A former bank which has been home to a number of bars and restaurants in recent years is to be converted into offices.

Andrew Slater of Quorum Estates Limited, who own the property at 4-6 Bank Square, said "Following a number of unsuccessful leisure ventures by tenants at Bank Square, Quorum Estates has made the decision to convert the former banking premises to modern, self-contained office accommodation, available to let.

"The space will provide approximately 1,500 sq ft arranged over ground and first floor with additional basement storage."

Recent occupants of the building include Boca Restaurant and Bar, theBoardroom, The Mulberry Bush Café and most recently Mexican restaurant Margarita Lounge which closed at the beginning of the year after just a few months of trading.

Refurbishment works are scheduled for completion by mid-May.

Another 1500 sq ft to add to the 135,000 sq ft already empty in Wilmslow, and we will be having more opposite Waters, on Altrincham Road, and just over on our boundary with Handforth another new one.

Where are the firms to fill these, as more and more people are part timing work from home.

Let us not forget the new lot at London Assurance as well, even if they have at least 10000 sq ft empty.

Cheshire East are in for a shock at the next local elections, as I can forsee there will be a lot of independants on the Council. Hurrah.

I don't see a problem with more office space as long as it's the right type. 400,000 people started a business last year and more will do the same this year so where are the co-working spaces and business lounges with payg facilities such as meeting rooms? Working from home sounds like utopia but I'm hearing more and more entrepreneurs and start ups express a desire to keep work and home separate but without the fixed costs of a dedicated office. There's nowhere I know of in Wilmslow that caters for these people.
