Florist off to pastures new

A well-established florist is relocating from the town centre to the former post office at Davenport Green.

Ian Lloyd, who has run The Flower Shop on Water Lane for 10 years, decided to look for premises to buy as his lease was coming to an end and has chosen to move to Knutsford Road.

Ian explained "We have looked at several places to buy but felt Davenport Green was the place for us as it will have parking and is close to our customers in both Wilmslow and Alderley Edge.

"Shop trade has changed over the last ten years. Event work and weddings are a large part of our business, but I could not turn my back on the retail side as I really love the customer base we have. We don't just sell flowers we sell emotions. Dealing with people as such important times in there lives."

The Flower Shop is intending to open at 115 Knutsford Road in May where they will be offering the same service as they currently do.

Ian added "All the team is excited about the move."

Planning permission has been granted to convert the ground floor of the former post office, which occupies a corner plot between Knutsford Road and Church Road, into a florist.

The hours of operation of the business will be from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and, in the interest of the neighbours, the florists will be closed on Sundays or public holidays.

Excellent news. I wish them well. How wonderful to have flowers on show rather than a post office which has remained empty and dingy for years. I do think that they would benefit from opening on Sundays though to catch the passing traffic as it isn't exactly a shopping high street.

Wonder if new rent proposals were a factor?
