An election could take place next month to fill a vacancy on Wilmslow Town Council.

Ten voters have submitted a written request for an election to be held to find one new councillor to represent the Lacey Green ward of the town.

The vacancy arose following the resignation of Trevor Jones who stepped down in January for health reasons.

If two or more candidates are nominated then the election will be held on Thursday 27th March and polling hours will be from 7am to 10pm.

Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate needs to obtain a nominations pack from the Returning Officer at Cheshire East Council, by contacting CEC Electoral Services on 01270 685922 or emailing [email protected].

The deadline for the nominations papers to be completed and submitted to CEC is 12 noon on Friday 28th February.
