Following its success last year, the 2014 Wilmslow Music Festival will form part of the Wilmslow Show from 2014 onwards.
Frank McCarthy, Chairman of the Wilmslow Show Committee, who had the initial idea of holding the music festival, explained "It has been agreed to integrate the music festival into the show format to give the more successful elements of the music festival exposure to a larger audience and is part of the development of the show which sees additional concepts and fresh ideas being introduced to the show line up from this year."
It was also felt by both organising committees that the staging of two events over the same weekend placed an unsustainable burden on the small band of volunteers who make these community events happen. Frank stated that "combining both events into the one day removes the need for the small band of volunteers, who all give their time freely, to give up a complete weekend, which is really too much to ask of people."
John Mills, Chairman of the 2013 Music Festival, will take on the role of Musical Director for the show with responsibilities for selecting and organising the acts for the two performance areas which will be incorporated into the showground for the day. These will comprise the 'bandstand' concept, both tried and tested at previous shows and last year's festival, and the very successful 'buskers' area concept from last year's festival.
John said "As with last year's festival, we will first offer the opportunity to local music acts, groups and societies to showcase their talents to the Wilmslow public before looking further afield for artists. This time the difference will be that local acts will have the opportunity to perform in front of a much bigger audience."

The Wilmslow Show will be staging its 102nd show Sunday 13th July and hopes that this new exciting addition marks the start of an exciting period which will see the show concept evolving over the next few years.
