George Osborne officially opens ZipYard

The Chancellor of the Exchequer was in town to officially open a new clothing alterations and repair specialists on Friday, 25th October.

MP George Osborne visited the ZipYard on Green Lane and performed the opening ceremony by unzipping a giant yellow zip.

George Osborne said "I'm always a huge supporter of anyone who sets up their own business. The response from the public has been fantastic and I wish them very well in this new venture."

This is the second store for owner Richard McConnell who opened his first in Altrincham in September 2011.

Richard McConnell said "We where all delighted and very pleased that the Chancellor could take time out of his busy schedule and officially open the ZipYard Wilmslow. It was an honour to meet him and he was very keen and suitably impressed by the nature of the business and how successful it had been."

Richard added "The Chancellor was keen to have a go on the sewing machines, wanting to know what he could mend but we soon discovered that he was best to stick to politics."

ZipYard offers all types of clothing alterations, repairs, tailoring and restyling - the company's motto is "if it fits in a sewing machine we can do it".
