Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to attend official bonfire and fireworks events this year.

Most injuries on, or around November 5th, occur as a result of people building their own bonfires and setting off their own fireworks. The message from firefighters is to go to an official display, which is much safer and always better value for money.

Wilmslow Round Table will be holding their Bonfire and Fireworks event at Carnival Fields, on Saturday, 2nd November. Gates will open at 5.30pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm. There will be a firework display for small children at 7pm, before the main firework display starts at 7.30pm.

The event will include other attractions such as fairground rides, funhouse and sweetie tent for the young children, freshly made doughnuts, mulled wine and hot food.

A free park and ride scheme will operate as normal from Broadway Meadow Car Park (next to Wilmslow Leisure Centre) and, due to popularity of this service, an extra coach will be provided this year.

Ticket prices are held at 2010 prices: £6 per child, £8 per adult and £23 for a family (2 adults, 2 children), and there's a discount if you buy them in advance (£4 per child, £6 adult, £18 family).

Also on Saturday, 2nd November, a Family Bonfire and Firework Night is being held at Alderley Edge Community Primary School and on Sunday, 3rd November, Alderley Edge Cricket Club are holding their annual fireworks event with children's fun fair.

Further details for these organised displays can be found in our events calendar.

As families look forward to having fun on Halloween and Bonfire Night, Cheshire Police are asking everyone to consider their neighbours when they are celebrating. Often some of the most vulnerable people who live in our communities dread this time of year - especially if they are on their own as they can feel intimidated by trick or treaters and scared of people setting off fireworks near their homes.

Anti-social behaviour is more prevalent during Halloween and bonfire celebrations as some people believe their own enjoyment comes first. Cheshire Police′s message is simple; officers will robustly challenge anyone committing anti-social behaviour over the coming fortnight.

Inspector Gareth Woods, of Communities Unit, Cheshire Police Lead for ASB, said "Remember remember this October and November that not everyone enjoys this time of year. Think about other people who live near you and be respectful of how your celebrations might impact on your neighbours."

If you want to report persistent incidents of anti-social behaviour, contact Wilmslow Police on 101 for non-emergencies and 999 if it is an emergency.
