A women and men's clothing chain has announced it will be closing its Grove Street store tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd October.

BANK, which is aimed at young, fashion-conscious men and women sells brands such as Superdry, Converse, Vans, Lipsy and Jack & Jones as well as a number of own brands.

The store is currently running a closing down sale, offering 20% off everything, and will shut up shop at the end of tomorrow.

A spokesperson for the store told wilmslow.co.uk the shop was closing because the lease was up for renewal. She wasn't certain how long the shop had been on Grove Street but said it was at least 12 years.

BANK is part of JD Sports Fashion Plc which acquired the trade and assets of Blacks in January 2012, the group also includes millets, Ark, scotts and size?.

Let us accept commercial Leases are due for renewal/review every x-y years and the renewal or review date is the only time the rent can be adjusted.for next period
The lessee is notified of proposed rent increase well in advance of due date and can accept or decline a new Lease, based projected profits.
Yes - This favours the national multiples over local independent retailers
Yes - Wilmslow commercial landlords may have unrealistic future rent expectations for current economic climate
Business rates are based on assessed rentable value, not actual rent.

All are a factor in retailer decision to remain in Wilmslow.

This store was bank's best performer out of all its countrywide stores in 2012, I know this as my son had a Christmas job there and got the bonus for being top sales. Another empty shop, soon all you will only be able to buy spectacles, coffee, charity shop goods, phone shops! or get a mortgage in Grove St!

See previous warnings. Craig is quite right but missed the beauty shops and hairdressers. Start the search now for a nice place to live - Wilmslow will be a traffic clogged nightmare in a very few years and then the even greedier Greater Manchester Council may achieve it's long term aims and get its's hands on this area. Certain areas of Cheshire may not get ruined as there is not enough profit in it!
