A one way restriction will be in place on Mill Street this week, from its junction with A538 Manchester Road to its junction with Church Street.
The closure is necessary to enable National Grid Gas to carry out works to repair a gas escape.
It is anticipated that the works will be carried out from Tuesday 27th until Friday 30th August.
Traffic will be able to travel from Church Street to Manchester Road via Mill Street but the alternative route for vehicles travelling in the opposite direction will be via; A538 Manchester Road, Swan Street, Bank Square, and Church Street.
