Any comment from Wilmslow Town Council on what many residents would see as yet another totally inappropriate licensing application?

I think it depends on the type of entertainment offered. Wouldn't it be great if they planned to show some good films, and offer a venue for performers and artists of the general entertaining kind, rather than what we fear it may be.......

Why would this be classed as inapporiate Pete?

Its town center, near other licensed premises, surely it should be a no brainer for the council to allow this?

I speak as license holder myself and as long as its run in the correct manner as the majority of licensed premeises are in wilmslow then there should not be an issue.

Whilst it would have been preferable to still see Simon Dunn trading at least this space that is in such a prominent position is not going to remain empty for too long. The fact its probably going to become a late night venue will help bring more custom into the area in the evening and help those other licensed business's as well by offering more choice. As with all applications for a license the public have a right to "make a representation" (basically objecting) and don't need to wait for the council to act. I cant wait to see what plans the new business has and wish them the best of luck.

Surely this would be a good place for a licenced venue. It would bring in business for restaurants. It is not on the main shopping street, which was the problem people seemed to have with the ST lounge. Please don`t let it stay empty.

How this is going to get past the NIMBY's I'm not too sure! It would be an excellent addition to the town and I hope it goes ahead.

Although sorry to see Simon Dunn go, a new bar e.t.c would really liven up the town and is just what we need (please no more charity shops!)

How would another new bar "really liven up the town"? Would it do much day time business? It is another unit changing to non retail with, presumably, more tables on the pavement so one can imbibe whilst inhaling traffic fumes. Never quite got the appeal of coffee/beer and food combined with diesel!!

Rather than jumping to conclusions about "another licensed" premises - surely it would be worth understanding what Chestiki Limited are proposing? It seems curious that they are looking to open from 9am until the early hours of the morning - they may well be offering something interesting and alternative to the town centre. Personally I look forward to hearing more details about this...
