Teenager punched and kicked during attempted robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was left shaken and bruised following an attempted robbery at the weekend.

A 16-year-old boy was approached by a man and punched and kicked as he walked through an alleyway known locally as "Black Path", which leads from Colshaw Drive to Handforth Road, at 11.45pm on Saturday, 10th August.

The offender then grabbed his bag and rifled through it. He didn′t take anything from the bag and dropped it on the floor before walking into Colshaw Farm Estate.

The man is described as 5′ 10" tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top with two green stripes down the arms and dark tracksuit bottoms.

DC Sarah Newton said: "The victim received bruises and grazes as well as a bloodied nose, but didn′t need medical treatment.

"I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police with any information they may have in order to progress with our enquiries."
