Work starts on new Lacey Green development

Work has started on a new housing development which will replace a derelict sheltered housing block in Lacey Green.

Oakdene Court, which has been unused for 7 years, will be replaced by 29 homes which will be let at affordable rents to local people.

The scheme, led by Equity Housing Group working in partnership with Cheshire East Council, will include bungalows and 2 and 3 bedroomed houses.

An event was held recently to mark the beginning of the project and the start of demolition activities. It is anticipated that all of the new homes will be completed and ready for occupation by March 2014.

Equity Housing Group Chief Executive David Fisher said: "This development will make a huge difference to peoples' lives and communities in Lacey Green, Wilmslow. Equity Housing Group has a proven track record for developing and delivering high quality, affordable homes. We are delighted that Cheshire East and an increasing number of other Local Authorities are choosing to make Equity their partner of choice."
