A recently formed youth group, set up to support and promote youth activities in the surrounding area, met for the first time this week.

The SK9 Youth Group got together on Tuesday, June 25th, for an informal evening where they were given an overview of the project whilst getting to know each other.

Amongst those attending from Wilmslow and Handforth were Eleana Howard, Mia Howard, Charlotte Bream, Andrew Moakes, Ben Jones, Joe McBride, Harry Humphries, Joe Smith and Matt Boyle.

The panel will be responsible for reviewing grant applications from youth groups and directing funding to youth projects in the area.

Speaking about the sessions, one attendee said "Informative, helpful, good idea to give young people a voice, chance to put young people's views across, a great experience, looking forward to doing my Duke of Edinburgh"

Helping make the evening a success were Lee Nelson, who is experienced in this kind of youth forum, and Dominic Rogers, the new Youth Ambassador to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire.

A number of training sessions have been organised for the SK9 Youth Group, the first of which will be on Thursday 4th July from 6pm to 8:30pm at Handforth Youth Centre.

It is still possible to join the group. If you are between 13 and 19 and would like to join the group, or have queries, email [email protected].
