New restaurant planned for Hawthorn Lane

A new Thai restaurant is coming to Wilmslow town centre.

Phanthong will be opening on Hawthorn Lane in late June or early July.

It is the second venue for the business partners behind a restaurant of the same name which they opened on Regent Road in Altrincham last year.

Their vision is to "offer authentic Thai food at prices that are a fair balance between the need to be profitable yet to use the best quality and freshest ingredients that we can possibly lay our hands on." Whilst also reminding diners of their visit to Thailand, or maybe encouraging them to make the trip.

Phanthong is the maiden name of one of the partners, but it also means 'gold leaf' in Thai - applying a sheet of gold leaf onto a Buddha is a symbolic gift in Thailand.

Sounds interesting.
I think the photo for this article is a little misleading, because it implies that the Barinda is closing and will be replaced by this new Thai restaurant. I've just walked past and the Barinda still looks very open for business. However the closed down Trevi restaurant (visible on the photo, but three units further up) looks like a much more likely location for the new restaurant. Does anyone know for sure?
