St Anne's gymnasts triumph in school's competition

Gymnasts from St Anne's Fulshaw CE Primary School won a local competition held at Wilmslow High School last week.

Four teams competed on Thursday, 18th April, with Estela, Tom, Connor and Trinity from Years 3 and 4 at St Anne's Fulshaw CE Primary School winning the overall competition.

In addition to winning the team prize, Trinity took first place in the floor routine.

The children will now progress to the county finals and were surprised and delighted when Olympic Champion Jessica Ennis appeared to present them with their medals and trophy as part of her visit to Wilmslow High School.

Clare Daniel, Headteacher at St Anne's Fulshaw CE Primary School, said "We have a history of working well to identify and develop talented gymnasts in school. We have been North West Rhythmic Gymnastic Champions for two years out of the last three, and have a pupil who competes at a national level in the sport."

Linsey Jackson, who leads the gymnastics team, said "The children have all worked really hard to learn their routines and gave 100% in the execution of every move. This sort of event gives the children the experience of a competitive atmosphere and the standards required of them to be winners. I am very proud of their achievements."
