Luxury tour operator to open first retail store in Wilmslow

Luxury tour operator Destinology has announced plans to open the company's first retail store in Wilmslow.

Work is currently underway at 47- 49 Alderley Road, the premises previously occupied by Argos, with the opening of the hi-tech store set for early May.

Founder and CEO of Destinology, Dominic Speakman, will be taking a fresh approach to the design of the store, looking to some of the world's leading high street retailers such as Apple for inspiration. The double-fronted store will utilise two huge 80 inch video screens in the window, touch screen displays, cinema style presentation areas and incorporate features such as an 'expert bar', mirroring the style of Apple's 'genius bar'.

The new store will be managed by Retail Director, Annelouise Speakman who said, "We really want to raise the bar on what customers have come to expect from a high street agent. We have entirely reconceived the way travel retail can operate, with cutting edge technology, personalised service and as a direct sell luxury operator, we are able to do all this and still offer amazing value for money."

Destinology were recently winners in three categories at the 2012 British Travel Awards, with awards for best tour operator to Middle East, Indian Ocean and Honeymoon Tour Operator.

Formed in 2004, the company will have grown from an initial staff of 10 to 110 once the Wilmslow store opens.

Brilliant. The must be an opening in Wilmslow for travel advice from an unbiased agency. I wish them every success.

Fantastic, that will be so integrated with the fabulous businesses on that part of Alderley Road. The landlords have made a huge effort on that side of town, its looking great, and we will need that confidence to help us through the trickier times when we get a few more empty premises this summer. Its always a balance though, and be positive, some leave, some join us, and i'm more for cheering on the new than debating the loss.
