Pub plans for expansion

Plans have been submitted to expand a pub on Alderley Road.

Hydes Brewery, who own both The Coach & Four public house and the hotel situated on the site, wishes to extend the ground floor drinking area with an orangery.

It is proposed that the orangery will be located in the current position of the walled outdoor drinks patio at the side the premises, adjacent the car park entrance.

The existing external seating area and smoking shelter will then be relocated to the rear of the pub to accommodate those customers wishing to dine, drink and smoke outdoors.

Plans include installing removable timber decks on each side of the front entrance which will be surrounded by free standing posts and canvas barriers.

The area of the proposed orangery will be limited by the footprint of the existing enclosure and have full height glazing on two sides, including three sets of sliding/folding doors fronting Alderley Road - which will open onto a raised timber deck.

A separate external refuse bin store is proposed, enclosed by a timber fence and gates, which will be located adjacent the existing kitchen with direct access off the car park.

Changes to the existing car park layout are also proposed to ensure that the loss of one of the disabled car spaces, due to the expansion of rear patio, is reinstated elsewhere and that the overall number of parking spaces is maximised.

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/0321M. The last date for submitting comments is 19th February and a decision is expected by 22nd March.
