Plans have been submitted to demolish disused buildings at the Black Box office development to create additional parking spaces.

The Emerson Group is proposing to demolish some old single storey storage buildings, which have not been used for over ten years and are in a derelict condition, to extend the existing car park by create twelve more parking spaces.

The Black Box building, which is in a primarily residential area, was originally built in the 1970s and remodelled in 2008. The existing car parking area provides 28 spaces.

Documents submitted to support the planning application state "The vacant buildings had a storage use but because of their condition are no longer fit for purposes and are in such a poor condition that they cannot economically be repaired.

"The use as an extension to the existing car par will complement the similar uses nearby and will clear away what has become something of an eyesore."

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/0379M. The last date for submitting comments is 28th February and a decision is expected by 25th March.
