Waters Corporation have applied for planning permission to erect another building at the site of their mass spectrometry headquarters on Altrincham Road.

The new single story and free standing building will house a nitrogen generation plant with a fenced enclosure to contact storage tanks.

Waters say the need for an on-site nitrogen generation plant has become apparent since the granting of planning permission in August 2011 for the construction of the mass spectrometry headquarters.

The original proposal was to rely on road tanker delivery however it is now felt that Waters cannot be reliant on road tanker delivery as they require a constant supply of nitrogen for operational processes - without it operations could be forced to stop.

The Waters headquarters are currently under construction, with completion of the main building is expected late 2013. The structure of the main building is in place, with work currently progressing on the external envelope of the building.

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 12/4730M.

And they didn't know this before! What rubbish! Can't believe that this organisation could possibly fail to be aware of this before embarking on such a huge project.
