Guild Players prepare for Hollywood performance

Wilmslow Guild Players' next production is a special one-off show celebrating the magic of Hollywood, with songs, sketches, monologues and nostalgia from the glory years of cinema.

The show, entitled "Hollywood Here We Come!", will be performed at Wilmslow Guild on Saturday 2nd February, starting at 7.30pm.

Director Marion Dean explained "The show will involve almost all the company. It is intended to be a fun and light-hearted evening with an interval for refreshments and socialising."

She added "Hollywood and cinema appealed as a theme this time as it gives plenty of scope for music and sketches plus a little nostalgia and plenty of parts for our talented membership. The Guild Players have many individual talents which are not always apparent in our more serious productions, so here is an opportunity for everyone to have a go."

The Guild Players have produced shows of this kind on four previous occasions, but with themes of Victorian Music Hall and the 1940s. This year the spotlight has shifted to the magical years of cinema, which gives ample scope for all kinds of acts.

Ticket secretary Bill Beton said "Tickets are already selling fast so don't leave it until the last minute. When we've done this sort of show before we've been absolutely packed out, which has led to a fantastic atmosphere."

Tickets cost £7, which includes a programme and refreshments. Tickets can be booked by calling 01625 520126, emailing [email protected] or calling into the Wilmslow Guild office on Bourne Street.
