United Reformed Church on Alderley Road will be hosting this year's Christmas Tree Festival for Wilmslow.

Following the introduction of the Wilmslow Christmas Tree Festival by St. Bartholomews Church about eight years ago it has been staged by one of the town's churches each year.

For the second time, the festival will be hosted by the United Reformed Church and they are looking forward to seeing the church bursting with a sparkling display of festive trees again this December.

Local businesses, schools and organisations have been invited to join in the event by decorating and displaying a tree with their own special theme.

The festival takes place from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th December. The church will be open to welcome visitors from 10am until 4pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and then 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday when it will conclude with 'Singing carols amidst the trees' between 5 and 6 o'clock on the Sunday.

There will be a variety of entertainment throughout the festival. Wilmslow Preparatory School and Lacey Green Academy are participating along with other local schools and the church organists will be entering into the Christmas spirit and entertaining with music from the piano and the organ at various time throughout the festival.

A small entrance charge of £2.50 will be made for adults to include coffee and biscuit. On Saturday, light lunches may be purchased in the church hall from 12 noon. All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Care for the support of the work done by their nurses in the community. In 2009 the church raised £2000 for this charity.
