The Wilmslow Triathlon, which always sells out well in advance, will be back for the 7th time next May.

Taking place on Sunday, 12th May 2013, this sprint distance triathlon has been growing in size and popularity over the last few years, attracting novices, experienced and elite triathletes alike.

Based at the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, the 400m swim takes place in the 25m indoor pool with the transition area, as well as the start and finish, located on the cricket pitch. The mainly flat 24.2 km cycle ride takes the competitors around the Cheshire countryside and the 5.6km run goes around east Wilmslow's leafy roads, a mostly flat route with some inclines near the River Bollin.

Event costs are £42 for individual entries or £55 for team entries, including numbered racking, electronic chip timing and an excellent goody bag. The prize giving takes place after the event, with prizes awarded in the following categories: overall winners (male and female), male and female age groups, relay team prize, club prize (first 3 athletes from the same club) and novice prize.

The introduction of a new route in 2012 meant that inaugural course records were claimed by Roger Witz Barnes (01:05:41) and Dominique Searle (01:15:49).

The minimum age for competitors is 16 and there is a maximum of 700 entrants.

Entries close on 9th May 2013 or when sold out. Visit www.xtramileevents.com to secure your place.
