What next for Handforth Station?

Handforth Station - Friends Mature and Young! April 2012

Community Group, The Friends of Handforth Station, are asking their local community: "What Next for Handforth Station?" at an open meeting on Tuesday 27th November at 6.45 pm in St Chad's Church Hall.

The rail gateway to Handforth was near-derelict in the mid-1990's but due to the work of the Friends group, MPs, train operators and local community it has become a model for community rail involvement with other local stations such as Heaton Chapel and Sandbach following suit. Over the years close links have been forged with Rotary, Girl Guides, Friends of Meriton Road Park, Transition Wilmslow and local councils amongst others.

Now the group want to understand what local residents and businesses wish to see next – this could include new landscaping, artwork, improved train live information or easier access to the platforms.

Mike Bishop, Chair of Friends of Handforth Station said:

"We are keen to understand what the community feels are priorities for its local station and hope that as many as people as possible can come along and air their views. We'd also love to have some new faces involved in running the group – this needn't be time consuming or onerous"
