Overnight works at Waters HQ to construct new roundabout

Waters Corporation will soon begin the final stages of the new carriageway works along the A538, Altrincham Road.

Over the past few weeks, traffic lights have been in place, for safety reasons, while construction work has been carried out close to the road side.

The next stage of the project involves road works and construction of a new mini roundabout on the A538.

To cause as little disruption to local residents as possible, and avoid a full road closure, traffic will be reduced to a single lane along the A538 after 7pm on the evenings of November 26th and 27th. The new roundabout will then be complete and in use by 28th November.

Local residents may have also noticed the absence of Stamford Lodge which has now been completely demolished. The final stages of demolition took place at the end of October and involved the removal and relocation of several bats that remained in the lodge. The bats will be closely monitored over the coming months to ensure that they have settled well into their new home.

Waters Corporation's new mass spectrometry headquarters will be completed in early 2014. More than 500 employees who are currently located on four separate sites in South Manchester and Altrincham will then be relocated to the 37-acre Stamford Lodge site over the following 12 months.

Such a shame about Stamford Lodge itself, it was an attractive building (I had thought it was listed) and the last scheme that got shelved was going to make use of it. It will be good to have the site used again, though.

If Stamford Lodge was 'an attractive building',I wouldn't like to see an ugly one.

CycleWilmslow have been seeking clarity on what cycling/walking facilities will be provided as part of this scheme as we had lobbied during the planning application process for continous cycleway/footway from KIngs Road to the existing path that ends at Nansmoss Lane (towards the Honey Bee pub). This would have allowed cyclists/walkers a safe route out of/into Wilmslow (and one for employees at Waters). It is proved quite difficult getting absolute clarity on the designs being implemented by Waters and CEC but we hope to be updated via local CEC Councillors shortly.

I see the roadworks were still causing traffic issues last night, does anybody know when it will finally be done? How long does it take to drop a mini roadabout in?

Its a nightmare getting in and out of wilmslow at the moment, the a34 improvements have over run and so have these, so its qing either way to get back into Wilmslow/Alderley Edge at the moment at rush hour :-(

A good opportunity to talk with Waters will be when the Project Manager (new site) and the Project Leader come to Wilmslow Library at 7.45 on Wednesday 16 January 2013. This is a public meeting, organised by the Wilmslow Trust.

I've found that the temporary lights at the Stamford Lodge site are removed about 16:30, so don't contribute to rush hour queues.

Im talking about the ongoing road works on the roundabout area, not traffic lights. Im sure if the roundabout was finished on time and the road was clear instead of traffic cones and road works everywhere the q's would not strech as far back as they do during the rush hour. I quote the above artical - The new roundabout will then be complete and in use by 28th November
