Have your say on Local Plan for Handforth

People living and working in Handforth are being urged to share their views on the Local Plan.

This important document will determine future infrastructure up to 2030, setting out housing, jobs, roads, schools, leisure facilities, parks and green spaces that will affect you, your children - and even your grandchildren.

One resident who will be taking part in the consultation process is Jane Farnworth, 48, a customer service centre manager, from Handforth.

She said: "I care deeply about my community and I would like to see local green spaces preserved and a campaign to tackle litter, so I will definitely be taking part.

"I'd also like to see support for more businesses to grow and prosper and ultimately job creation so that people can live and work in the area."

Jane is also concerned about the number of empty premises in the town centre.

She added; "I'd like to see more useful shops, rather than takeaways and betting shops everywhere.

"It would be nice if there were more facilities to keep young people occupied, especially over the summer holidays and this will be an important point to impress upon the Council so that community life is improved."

Cheshire East Council leader Councillor Michael Jones urged: "Like many residents, Jane has her own concerns and it is important that these are heard.

"If people don't get involved then decisions will be made based only on the replies we receive back and our aim here at Cheshire East is to reflect the views of as many people as possible."

The consultation runs until October 1st 2012.
