Olympic inspiration for Wilmslow cyclists

Bike Ride July 2012 001

Wilmslow is home to Olympic cycling star Victoria Pendleton so CycleWilmslow and Transition Wilmslow have been busy inspiring the next generation to get pedalling through their family rides.

The latest ride tied in with the July Artisan Market and saw 25 people ranging in age from 5 to 75 enjoying a 7-mile circuit of tracks and quieter roads.

It was the first opportunity to sample a new bridle path linking Knutsford Road, Clay Lane and Upcast Lane which got a thumbs up from the participants.

Ride Leader, Rob Sawyer, of CycleWilmslow said: "These rides are going from strength to strength and are an ideal way to spend a leisurely hour in good company. We had 25 riders this time which was very positive. The youngsters did fantastically well and you never know – maybe they'll be representing Team GB one day! "

Rachel Corrigan of Transition Wilmslow added: "It was great to see so many cyclists joining us for the ride once again. Not only is cycling great fun and wonderful exercise it's also a great inexpensive way to get around. Many thanks to Cycle Wilmslow, once again, for organising and leading the ride and for sharing their expertise in the local area."

The next family ride is due to start from the Artisan Market on 15th September.
