Wilmslow Artisan Market is celebrating its first birthday so organisers have lots of fun things planned for Saturday, 21st July.

Highlights will include celebrated tenor Alexander Wall performing on Grove Street.

Alexander started singing as a chorister at Westminster Abbey, and was the first recipient of the Sir David Willcocks medal. Having won a music scholarship to Uppingham School, he furthered his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music.

He has performed extensively at home and abroad with many distinguished companies, including The Royal Opera House at Covent Garden; English National Opera; Grange Park Opera and Carl Rosa Opera. He has also worked in Holland for The Netherlands Opera and Nationale Reisopera, in France with Opera de Nancy and in Norway with Den Norske Opera.

Organiser Vicky Jackson said "We are incredibly excited that he is joining us in Wilmslow!! I can't imagine many high streets have a celebrated Tenor performing for the local people. He will be performing at 12 o'clock and we also have a surprise planned for the Wilmslow people."

Transition Wilmslow and Cycle Wilmslow are also running another bike ride from the Artisan Market. The ride will start from Grove Avenue at 1.30 pm and should take about an hour an a half. Registration will take place at the Transition Wilmslow stall on Grove Avenue from 10 am.

The Wilmslow Artisan Market will take place from 10am until 4pm with over 100 stalls offering food, drinks and crafts on Grove Street and Bank Square.
