Wilmslow Business Group has announced the appointment of a new Chairman this week.

Having steered the group with passion and humour, Steve Morris stepped down as Chairman of the group recently, having retired from his position as General Manager of Sainsbury's Wilmslow.

The committee identified a successor and invited members to vote on the appointment of Catherine Mackenzie of Mackenzie Marketing to be the new Chairman of the group at their meeting on Monday, 28th March.

Catherine, who lives in Wilmslow, brings with her a wealth of experience in management, marketing, membership organisations and lobbying. She has worked in marketing for the last 22 years, and formed Mackenzie Marketing five years ago, which provides marketing advice and delivery to small and medium sized businesses from its Grove Street office.

Before setting up her own company she was the Business Development Manager for pro.manchester – a networking and lobbying body for the financial and professional sector in Manchester. Prior to pro.manchester Catherine was a lobbyist for the retail sector and, having started her career in the civil service, she understands the importance of the private and public sector working together.

Catherine told wilmslow.co.uk "As well as my business being based in Wilmslow, I live here and my children go to the High School. As a consequence I am keen for Wilmslow to be the best it can be.

"There are lots of exciting projects which the Business Group is currently developing and delivering. I want to ensure that these projects are successful and bring business benefits to Wilmslow.

"I am also keen to provide the Business Group members with great value for their membership and to encourage them to get to know one another well, so ultimately they can do business with one another."
