A group of students from Wilmslow High School have been crowned Cheshire champions in the Young Enterprise competition.

As part of the Young Enterprise project, seventeen pupils from Year 12 established 'Fruity Friends' - a company which produces t-shirts with four different characters to promote healthy eating in a fun way to children.

The team of fifteen boys and two girls competed against five other teams in the Cheshire finals which were held at Daresbury Laboratory in Warrington last night, Thursday 10th May.

To win the title 'Fruity Friends' had to set a trade-stand for the judges to have a look round and ask questions about, present a five-minute speech in front of the other schools and the judging panel, and produce a 10 page company report.

Fruity Friends PR Manager, Jemma Davis said "The evening has been both thoroughly enjoyable and educational. Not only have we learnt a lot about different successful approaches that were taken by other teams, but we also had the pleasure of being the overall winners. Out of the six teams, we are the only ones going through to the North-West finals, which means a lot to us. Winning will only bring us closer as a team, and drive our passion to carry on doing what we enjoy."

Raj Sanghrajka, from Fruity Friends Sales Team, added "Winning today has boosted the teams morale and eagerness for future success, it was amazing to have beat other very competitive company's with similar aspirations."

Fruity Friends are now through to the next round of the Young Enterprise competition, the North West Finals which take place on June 21st at Concorde Conference Centre Manchester Airport.

Their T-shirts can be purchased directly from the team or through the Fruity Friends website.

Well done to you all.. This does not surprise me after witnessing the excellent presentation given by the Fruit Friends team at the April meeting of the Wilmslow Business Group. Let's hope you progress all the way to the national finals.
