Over the past two years PCSO Sarah Stanley, PCSO Gareth Harding and Clare Harrison from Cheshire Police head quarters have been working on a project with local school children.

'Cop Stars' is focussed on educating Year 6 students about subjects such as anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and partner agencies. The programme has been piloted at Lacey Green Academy since September 2011and funded by the School, Cheshire Peaks and Plains, Great Places Housing Trust and Crime Beat.

Earlier this month the High Sheriff of Cheshire, John Lee, was invited to go along to one of the talks with his wife Elizabeth.

PCSO Sarah Stanley said "Cop Stars has been a huge success and the pupils really enjoy the interaction with the police and the subjects we talk about."

"The students were introduced to the High Sheriff and the background to the High Sheriff's position and his job role was explained to them. The High Sheriff stayed to listen to the talk which was about distraction burglaries and he was very impressed with the content and the reaction from the students."

PSCO Stanley added "The Cop Stars project runs until July 2012 and we are impressed with the amount of information the students have remembered so far and how they have interacted with the Police. This will lead to better relationships between the young people and the Police when they are out and about on the streets."
