Fresh from winning the 'Big Society Award' at the 2011 Cheshire Best Kept Station awards night, The Friends of Handforth Station are preparing for a busy summer with a 'spring clean' taking place on Saturday, 21st April.

The event will start at 10am and last about two hours but people can stay as long as they wish.

All equipment will be provided on the day. Volunteers just need wear appropriate clothing and footwear and meet at the booking office.

Mike Bishop, Chairman of Friends of Handforth Station, said: "We are looking forward to blowing off the cobwebs and getting the station spruced up for summer. We hope to have Transition Wilmslow and the Guides assisting but would welcome support from anyone in the local area. We'll be litter-picking, weeding, and starting to make preparations for the village's Diamond Jubilee and Olympic celebrations."

Anyone interested in joining the group can visit the Friends of Handforth Station website , email [email protected] or call 01625 524123.
