Optegra, a leading eye care expert, has opened its first ever outreach clinic, bringing its expertise and advice to Wilmslow.

The new clinic has opened within Wilmslow Health Centre and was the brainchild of local GP, Dr Amar Ahmed, who is a partner at the centre.

Dr Ahmed said "I approached Optegra as we were very happy with the care they were giving our patients. It was timely, high quality, and always led by top eye consultants. This is the latest in a number of projects we offer here in Wilmslow, and we see it as an ideal service to offer patients – not just those registered at our surgery, but patients across Cheshire."

The clinic is run by leading ophthalmic surgeons, state of the art equipment is brought to the Wilmslow Health Centre and patients, both NHS and private, can be seen within a few days of referral.

Caroline McHugh, hospital manager for Optegra Manchester Eye Hospital, said: "This is our first outreach clinic, and it is wonderful to bring our experts and equipment to a GP surgery, making our services so easily available throughout Cheshire.

"We are always looking for suitable partners and this new clinic at Wilmslow Health Centre is an exciting opportunity to bring our full range of treatments as well as offering advice on all aspects of eye care and eye health. We are already starting to look into other outreach clinics!"

Optegra, which has one of its specialist eye hospitals in Didsbury is supported by over 60 consultant level ophthalmic surgeons who provide a wide range of ophthalmic procedures including: Clarivu (refractive lens exchange), laser vision correction, cataract removal, glaucoma, AMD and cosmetic procedures.

The new clinic runs on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings at Wilmslow Health Centre, and appointments can be booked by calling Optegra on tel: 0800 368 4848.
