Pownall Hall pupils interview top journalist

REPORTERS

Form 4 pupils at Pownall Hall School who have been studying newspapers and how to write a news report, had a once in a lifetime opportunity this week, to interview Nick Robinson, the BBC's Political Editor.

Using a video link they were able to see and talk directly to him as Mr Robinson took time out of his busy schedule.

They spent over 30 minutes asking him questions about his education, career and how he got into journalism. They were praised by the journalist, renowned for his tough interviewing techniques, on the quality and delivery of their questions.

The children heard about his very first interview which was with the Blue Peter tortoise!, and a dramatic journey into war torn Afghanistan, travelling with Prime Minister Tony Blair. The military jet that they were on had to carry out a cork-screw landing, twisting and turning to avoid being shot down.

The children asked some really challenging and interesting questions and in some cases, received some unexpected answers. Just don't try and find out what they were as they were sworn to secrecy!
