Ashdene panto is a sell out

Ashdene Primary School celebrates its 50th birthday this year and to kick off the celebrations they once again staged their hugely popular Staff and PTA Pantomime.

Tickets sold like hot cakes and all six performances, staged from 31st January to 4th February, were sold out within 48 hours of going on sale.

Script writer Dave Billington had Dorothy, (Fiona McCarthy) and her meercat Simples on a quest to find the Wizard 'who was odd'.

She was helped on her way by her trusty friends Scarecrow (Mia Shepherd), Tin Man (Doug Parker) and Lion (Chris Ainsworth). Good witch Belinga (Jayne Dickinson) and the Darlings (Linzi Kinlock, Vicky Greenough & Laura Delahunty) watched over Dorothy as she went on her journey .... which is a good job because Batman (Erik Garner) and Robin (Dave Billington) were always too late to help!

Dorothy's quest was almost thwarted by those nasty Witches of Wythenshawe Cash (Gemma Dockerty) and Carrie (Ruth Mayer), but luckily, for once (and with a little help from the Darlings) Batman and Robin made it in time and saved the day. The Wizard (Ian Horton) invited everyone to enter the 'Strictly Fun Dancing' competition and they all lived happily ever after!

Ashdene Primary School have a number of events planned to celebrate their 50th birthday this year, including a whole host of parties and discos, as well as a golden hat parade, golden ball, design a school flag competition and 50th birthday garden party.

The school will be contacting ex staff, governors and pupils to let them know about the events and they are also asking for them to send their 'Golden Memories' which will be published in the school's weekly newsletter throughout the year.

Your memories of Ashdene Primary School can be submitted via email to Belinda Coaker.
