Wilmslow dancer makes the grade with English Youth Ballet

Alice Jenkins - ballet

A dancer from Wilmslow High School has been selected to perform in a professional ballet production.

Following her successful audition on Wednesday, 29th June, Year 11 student Alice Jenkins has won a role in the English Youth Ballet's production of 'Giselle.'

Alice, who has been doing ballet since she was 4, is a member of the Sue Morris School of Dance and once a week she works as a dance assistant to younger students.

Alice has just finished her GCSE dance and since being at Wilmslow High School she has performed in a number of shows, including Guys and Dolls and most recently We Will Rock You.

She will be part of the ensemble in Giselle, dancing alongside the English Youth Ballet's principal artists. In her age group she competed against over 100 in the auditions, from which 40 were selected.

Rehearsals will start in September and the production will take place at the Royal Northern College of Music in November.
