Despite the weather, the Summer Fair at Pownall Hall School went ahead and was given an official seal of approval by the Mayor of Cheshire East, Councillor Roger West.

Situated in the schools beautiful grounds visitors were offered a traditional fair with a modern twist and a variety of activities, including an open air market, traditional tea room, tombolas, giant inflatables, fair rides and competitions.

A great deal of effort by parents, staff and children made the day a great success.

Councillor West judged the school art competition, listened to poetry readings and enjoyed all that the fair offered so much that he was one of the last to leave.

Cakes baked by the children themselves, in the school baking club, were offered in the tea rooms and old fashioned fun was provided by a coconut shy, wellie wanging and pull a string. Whilst more modern fun was supplied in the shape of giant inflatables and small fair rides.

Many outside stall holders turned up to sell their wares alongside those organized by the parents, children and staff, and both the Police and Fire Service turned up to allow the youngsters to see their vehicles up close.

The grand finale was a giant tug of war with children and parents alike battling it out for the glory.

All the funds collected will go towards installing a nature reserve area at Pownall Hall for the children to study.
