Students delight with Arts Evening

The Arts Team at Wilmslow High School hosted 'An Evening with the Arts' on Tuesday, 28th June, which I was delighted to attend.

The ambitious event involved a very impressive art exhibition, followed by a Shakesperian inspired production and the grand finale of the 2011 Battle of the Bands competition.

Whilst guests perused the Courtyard Art Exhibition, where the work of students at each Key Stage was displayed, refreshments were served and live entertainment was provided, courtesy of the string ensemble and the Boys' Freestyle, Year 9 Dance and Wilmslow Wonders dance groups.

Visitors were then treated to a production of The Tempest by the Year 10 students, followed by the final of Battle of the Bands which was won by lower school group Balaclava made up of Patrick Ward, Dan Waters, Ben Vaughan and Max Ellacott.

Christine Boden, Curriculum Team Leader for Arts, said "The evening was a huge success thanks to the hard work and commitment of the Arts team and students.

"We had a record number of attendees, the Courtyard Exhibition had visitors enjoying the displays all evening and the production of The Tempest and the final of Battle of the Bands proved just as popular with sell out audiences."
