Locals take to the street with wedding fever

Whilst billions of people across the world watched the royal wedding of Prince William and his new bride the Duchess of Cambridge on television, over a million people are believed to have taken to the streets of London.

Many local people celebrated the Royal Wedding at home, and seven roads were closed in Wilmslow for residents street parties, but others travelled down to London to soak up the atmosphere and catch a glimpse of the royal couple.

Wilmslow resident Anna Meadmore, along with her husband, joined the thousands of people who lined the streets of London.

Anna told me "We decided to go down for the Royal Wedding to show support and to be part of the pagentry and celebrations.

"We were at Whitehall by 5.30am, there was absolutely no chance of finding a spot on the Mall, but we saw everybody.

"It was one huge party with lots of goodwill and appreciation of all the effort that went into the day. The day was full of highlights - from the bride and groom, to the campers, the horses, and the wonderful service relayed to the crowd, the flypast, and the fantastic atmosphere. You had to be there to really believe it."
